There are many opportunities to volunteer and help make the holidays merry and bright in the borough!
It’s that time of year. People are making their lists and checking them twice. There’s excitement for gatherings, connecting with friends and family and making new memories. As you start your end-of-the-year reflections, consider asking yourself this… Are you filling your life – or just your time – with your activities? With 5 huge events between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve, Mainspring is looking for volunteers to help us make this season nothing short of spectacular.
Mainspring is working to make Ephrata a great place to live, work and play by growing economy and building community. As part of our charter, we are hosting some of the county’s biggest community holiday celebrations–most of which are FREE to the public. We work with local government bodies, businesses, and residents to help strengthen our community. We welcome volunteers, in fact, we can’t do it without them. Are you looking for ways to get involved? Then you’re reading the right blog! Here are a few ways that you can get involved in serving our local community and start filling your LIFE, not just your time.
If you’re looking for short-term or seasonal volunteer commitment, staffing an event is an excellent way to get involved! Depending on the role, volunteers for specific events are only required to commit to a few evenings or a single day of service. For example, during Christmas in Ephrata, we have many short-term opportunities, including setting up, handing out programs, and monitoring the barrel train. Of course, we also need a few jolly elves and spotters for Frosty and Rudolph! The holiday events are a joyful celebration with the community, and while our volunteers help “work” the events, it hardly feels like a job.
Do you have skills or expertise that could benefit Ephrata? Let us know! Whether you’re an expert in face painting, you love building things, or you have a background in business, your skills are valuable to enhance our local community events. A network of skilled residents we can call on if an opportunity arises is a valuable asset for a non-profit organization like ours. We appreciate any offers to lend a hand.
If you would like to volunteer in any capacity, visit our website to fill out our Volunteer Interest Form at the bottom of the page. Submitting a Volunteer Interest Form allows you to choose areas of interest, select your availability, and provide any additional notes for our volunteer coordinators. We can’t wait to celebrate the holiday season with you!
Not enough time on your calendar, but still want to give back? The ExtraGive is on Friday, November 18. Consider giving to Mainspring of Ephrata to help keep our businesses and community thriving.
If you have time for a longer-term commitment and have a calling to get involved in our local community, invest in Ephrata’s future by serving on a local board or committee. These teams play a vital role in planning large events like Christmas in Ephrata and shaping Ephrata’s future. In addition, some of our volunteers serve on a few different committees, so if you have multiple areas of interest or expertise, we welcome you to join.
