It’s All Treats, No Tricks This Fall in Ephrata

Posted on October 4, 2022 by Lisa Willwerth

There is a ton of Halloween fun happening in Ephrata Borough this season!

The overload of pumpkin spice in everything started sometime in early August, but the temps have dropped, and the leaves are turning, so it’s finally time to get ready for spooky season! Looking for tips on decorating for the holiday, crafting the perfect costume, or getting into the spirit with activities? Read on for some Halloween-spiration offered throughout the borough.

Costumes & Decorations

Decorating your home and creating costumes for the season doesn’t need to break the bank! You can dress up your home and yourself on a budget at, The Art of Recycle and ReUzit on State with nearly-new options to get you ready for the holiday. For young DIY-ers, The Art of Recycle is hosting a Monster Mash event on October 20, where little ones create their own creepy monsters!

Halloween Activities

Mark your calendars for some Halloween fun for the whole family! Learn how to decorate spooky-themed cookies during Laura the Cookie Lady’s Halloween Cookie Decorating Classes! Offered throughout October, this class will show you how to pipe the perfect decorations onto delicious cookies that you can take home and enjoy. For teens ages 13-18 looking for fun on Halloween night, don’t miss Ephrata Public Library’s Teen Murder Mystery, where participants play a key role in a murder mystery and see if they can figure out who the killer is! If you’re looking for something a little more relaxing, head over to The Style Studio for a Pumpkin Chai facial.

Visit Local Haunts

Are any of Ephrata’s historical landmarks haunted? You can start looking for some answers at the Cloister Cemetery Tour on October 23. Then, continue your hunt for the spooky and surprising by taking a self-guided walking tour of the borough with our Uniquely Ephrata App. While ghost sightings aren’t predictable, you’ll definitely learn about Ephrata’s past while taking advantage of the cool autumn weather and falling leaves. You can even give to a good cause by picking up a Fall-themed latte from Griddle and Grind to enjoy during your tour!

The big event – Trick-or-Treat! Ephrata’s Trick-or-Treat night is scheduled for October 31, from 6-8 PM. Show off your fabulous costumes and collect some sweets during this community event for all Ephrata Residents. To ensure the safety of all our Halloween participants, take these precautions as you celebrate this year:

  1. Children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult.
  2. Wear bright colors or wear reflective tape if walking or crossing busy streets. Bring along a flashlight if you are walking after dark.
  3. Walk along sidewalks, and always use crosswalks.
  4. Never attempt to enter a stranger’s house, and promptly leave if no one answers the door.
  5. Make sure to have an adult inspect all candy. We do not recommend eating food or candy that is not pre-packed and sealed.

However you celebrate Halloween this year, we hope you have a happy and safe evening and a wonderful month getting excited for some spooky fun!
