Ephrata’s historical sites and stunning architecture have always played a significant role in our community’s culture. Throughout the Borough, charming buildings each hold stories from our past, which have shaped us into what we are today.
As our town grows and develops, we want to honor our history by ensuring that these stories continue to be told. With that goal in mind, we decided to make a new addition to our Uniquely Ephrata Tours App—a Historic Walking Tour of Downtown Ephrata!
By downloading our Uniquely Ephrata Tours App, users can take a self-guided tour of Ephrata without adhering to any schedule. The tour features twelve places of historical and architectural significance. During the tour, users can listen to a brief segment that explains the relevance of each location. They can also view images of the structures as they were in the past and see how they changed over time.
The app will tell stories of Ephrata’s unique history throughout the tour—how it grew from one of the nation’s first religious communities to a town transformed by a railroad in the 1880s to what it is now in 2021. The tour also explains how many historic buildings were altered to accommodate a modernizing community. With so much information, even lifelong residents can learn something new on the tour!
In addition to the historic sites tour, the Uniquely Ephrata Tours app also offers a holiday tour called The Jingle Bell Trolley Tour! This festive tour lets users follow Santa around town to discover beautifully decorated homes and businesses. Users can take the tours by foot, bike, or car—all you need is a well-charged smartphone.
