Summer is in full force, and your furbabies deserve a day out of the house to explore all that Ephrata has to offer. Read along for some pet-friendly locations where you and your fluffy friend can enjoy exercise, treats, shopping, and more!
Exercise
If your dog enjoys some time outdoors, Thomas P. Grater Community Park is a lovely setting to enjoy a leisurely walk by Cocalico Creek. If your pet requires a little more exercise, bring them along to the Warwick to Ephrata Rail Trail starting at the Linear Park! You and your furry friend can enjoy miles of trail or just a quick jaunt. Both of these locations require dogs to be on leashes, but soon Ephrata will have another fantastic exercise location that is leash-free with the Ephrata Unleashed Dog Park!
Construction of the 40,000 square-foot dog park starts late this summer, and pets and their owners can look forward to a park filled with drinking water fountains for you and your pup, ramps, benches, and, of course, doggie waste stations. There will even be two separate sections, one for small pups and one for larger dogs! The unleashed dog park has been made possible through a partnership between the Borough of Ephrata, Mainspring of Ephrata, and the Ephrata Dog Park Committee made up of community members. Ephrata has plenty of open-air patios and pup-friendly outdoor dining spaces if you want to enjoy a sweet treat or snack at a pet-friendly place. Javateas Gourmet Coffee Cafe and Black Forest Brewery have patios open to furry friends. Plus, Javateas even offers a special treat for puppy visitors! Fox Meadows Creamery allows dogs in their outdoor eating area, so you can bring along your pup and maybe even treat them to a special cone.
There is nothing like bringing along your pet to pick out a new toy or special treat on their own! Animal Crackers, Pet Supplies Plus, and Ephrata Agway all offer a selection of dog toys, supplies, treats, and more so you can stock up on everything your pet needs! Animal Crackers also provides dog grooming services, and they host special paint nights where you can paint a portrait of your beloved furry friend! If you are bringing your pet along to Ephrata Agway, be sure to keep an eye on your pup if they are reactive or aggressive to felines, as you may come across Muffin, the cat while shopping.
