Gameseum: A Blast from the Past with a Modern Twist

Posted on February 16, 2021 by Lisa Willwerth

Whether it's a weekend out or a weeknight wind-down, Gameseum is the place to be!

Channeling your inner-child has never been easier than at Gameseum: Mega-Arcade & Museum!

Created and owned by local entrepreneur, Steven Van Splinter Jr., Gameseum truly is a blast from the past providing a classic arcade experience with original, restored machines. Steven has been collecting these machines for years—some even dating back to the 1940s! He decided it was time to share his personal collection with the community. The arcade houses over 80 retro games including PAC-MAN, Galaga, Galaxian, Asteroids, Track N’ Field, Millipede, and lots of pinball! If you’re a fan of modern games, Gameseum has you covered with Guitar Hero, Minecraft, Mario Kart, and more!

If revisiting your favorite childhood game doesn’t have you sold, here are a few more reasons locals love Gameseum:

Unlimited Play

One main draw of Gameseum is their unlimited play model! Rather than having customers worry about coins, they offer timed passes. For an affordable fee, you can play your favorite games to your heart’s content! As of February 2021, their prices are as follows:

  • 30 Minutes – $7
  • 1 Hour – $10
  • 1.5 Hours – $17
  • 2 Hours – $20
  • 2+ Hours / All Day Pass – $25

If you’ve been gaming all day and need a snack break or a walk around town, you’ll be happy to know Gameseum offers free re-entry on All Day Passes. Just be sure to ask their friendly staff for a re-entry bracelet before you leave!

Classic and New Games

Although you’ll find the same classic machines each time you visit, Gameseum keeps an overstock of machines that they rotate in on a continual basis. This method ensures that each time you visit, you’ll find a new game to conquer—perfect for competitive gamers.

Convenient Location

Gameseum is located on N. State Street, right in the heart of downtown Ephrata. If you’re planning a casual date night or weekend get-together with friends, make sure Gameseum is on the itinerary. Its central location makes it a great place to swing by after a few beers from The Hill or Black Forest Brewery. But, don’t just take our word for it—check out their LNP Reader’s Choice awards:

  • #1 Best Place for a Casual Date
  • #1 Best Place for a Girl’s Night Out
  • #2 Best Museum
  • #3 Best Local Attraction

Clean, Safe Environment

The team at Gameseum works hard each and every day to ensure the building is kept clean and visitors are kept safe. You can trust that your health is their top priority—right above providing you with an incredible entertainment experience!

Family-Friendly

From those who never really grew up to the ones who still have to, everyone is welcome at Gameseum! The arcade is open to gamers of all-ages and levels, just be sure that any children have adult supervision. With the unlimited play system, children still learning the ropes have endless opportunities to become master gamers. Stools are also available for young arcade enthusiasts so that not even height can stand in the way of victory.
