Gehman Jewelers is a third-generation, family-owned jewelry store that has been a trusted Ephrata staple for over 55 years!
Gehman Jewelers started as Wertsch Jewelers in the 1920s, originally owned by a local eye doctor named John Wertsch. Eventually, Wertsch’s watchmaker, Paul Gehman, bought the store and renamed it Gehman Jewelers. In 1966, Bernie and Nadine Lyon purchased Gehman Jewelers from Paul Gehman—fulfilling a dream that Bernie had to own a fine jewelry store. To honor its history, the couple decided to keep the name.
When Bernie passed away in 1978, Nadine took over full operations of the store until their daughter, Stacey Schilt, began working for the family business in 1987. Today, Nadine has retired, leaving Stacey and her granddaughter, Alex, to run the shop. Sometimes, however, you can still find all three generations in the store helping patrons select the finest pieces for their special occasions.
