1777 Americana Inn

This beautiful, colonial property was first built in 1777 as the private residence and workshop of Jacob Gorgas, a master tall case clockmaker. After he passed away in 1798, the estate transferred ownership amongst several family members. The property served many purposes over the next 200+ years, some of which include a millinery shop, carriage works, boarding house, doctor’s office, and hotel. It wasn’t until March of 2014 that the 1777 Americana Inn was established by the current owners, Denise and Bob Harter, as a B&B and brewery.

Modern convenience meets historic charm in this inn’s six individually-themed guest rooms. Two multi-level luxury suites are also available in the converted Carriage House, each with a gas fireplace, jacuzzi, plasma television, refrigerator, queen size bed, and spa robes. Guests can enjoy a “room with a brew” by grabbing a beverage at the on-site Black Forest Brewery, which offers a fine selection of homebrewed craft beer, local wines, quality cocktails, and pub fare.

With its cozy atmosphere, modern amenities, and house-crafted beers, the 1777 Americana Inn is the perfect place for guests to relax and recharge while visiting family or friends for the holidays.

Historic Smithton Inn

Built in 1763, the Historic Smithton Inn is one of the oldest bed and breakfasts in Lancaster County. The building was originally a tavern run by Henry Miller. After his death, the property was passed down through the Miller family for many generations until 1979, when Allen Smith bought it. Smith was an early member of the Select Registry, an exclusive association of independent, boutique properties that provide an extraordinary lodging experience. Smith converted the property into the bed and breakfast we know and love today. In 2009, current owners Rebecca and David Gallagher purchased the historic property and updated the building, keeping its operations at a high standard.

The Historic Smithton Inn offers delightful lodging accommodations and modern comforts in a quaint environment. Guests can choose from six picturesque rooms in the stone mansion, each with a flat-screen TV, working fireplace, private bathroom, and king or queen size bed with a memory foam topper. Adjacent to the main house, The Tailor’s Cottage and Smithton Guest House are alternate lodging options that provide additional space and privacy for guests with children and canine companions. With a kitchen, living room, and multiple bedrooms, these two vacation homes have enough room for the whole family to enjoy!

At the Smithton, guests will start their day with a scrumptious, complimentary breakfast homemade by the innkeeper, Rebecca. Then after a day full of festivities, they can enjoy live music and a glass of wine at the on-site Weathered Vineyards Wine Bar & Tasting Room.

If your holiday guests require a kid-friendly, pet-friendly place to stay that has a sweet historic charm, the Smithton Inn is a fantastic option! As an added incentive to book with them this holiday season, all reservations include a gift and free holiday breakfast.
