Candlelight Open House

Candlelight Open House

Explore Ephrata Cloister illuminated by candlelight on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4pm-8pm for our Candlelight Open House! Costumed interpreters, craftspeople, and historical demonstrators will bring Ephrata's past to life!
October 25th, 2025
4pm-8pm

Experience Historic Ephrata Cloister in a whole new light – by candlelight! As the sun sets, the site’s pathways and buildings glow with the light of candles, creating an unforgettable evening atmosphere throughout the grounds.

This self-guided event allows you to explore the illuminated grounds at your own pace. Step inside the historic buildings to encounter costumed interpreters, skilled craftspeople, and historical demonstrators who will share the stories, trades, and traditions of Ephrata’s past.

Throughout the night, enjoy:

  • Vendors: Ginny Good and Emily Smucker-Beidler displaying their unique, handmade wares in the Visitor Center, which will be sold in the Museum Store
  • Performances by the Ephrata Cloister Chorus in the 1741 Saal. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis; wristbands are required for entry and are free with admission.
  • Gather by the fire for a ghostly Ephrata Cloister tale, perfect for a cool October night.
  • Take part in a brief guided cemetery tour, adding a unique glimpse into Ephrata’s historic burial grounds.

Don’t miss this chance to experience the site’s rich history brought to life after dark. Tickets can be purchased online or in-person on the day of the event.
