“Back the Blue” Launch Party

“Back the Blue” Launch Party

“Back the Blue” Launch Party hosted by The Friends of the Ephrata Police Foundation. Free safety information & giveaways • a 50-50 • coloring books for children. Food available for purchase. Everyone Welcome!

The Friends of the Ephrata Police Foundation is having a “Back the Blue” Launch Party at the Black Forest Brewery, 301 West Main Street, Ephrata, on Wednesday, September 3 rd from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Bob & Denise Harter, Black Forest owners, are hosting the event that raises funds to assist in the Foundation’s efforts to provide financial support for crime prevention items used by the Ephrata Police department.

Typically, the equipment the Foundation purchases is higher priced and is above and beyond what is provided by the communities served by the Ephrata Police – which is Ephrata Borough, Ephrata Township, Adamstown Borough, and West Cocalico Township. Having the Foundation privately fund the large purchases relieves the burden from falling on the taxpayers.

The Black Forest Brewery is creating a special beer called “Hair of the Dog” where $1.00 from each glass sold will go to the Foundation. The Ephrata Police Crime Scene Van will be on display at the event, McGruff the crime fighting dog will make an appearance, there will be free safety information and giveaways, a 50-50, and coloring books for children. Food will be available for purchase. The public is invited to attend.

“We feel that supporting the Police is essential in all communities”, commented Bob Harter. “This is a great cause and are happy to be a part of this effort”, he added.

Ephrata Police Chief Chris McKim is thrilled with the support from the Foundation and the drive to get a K-9. “The dog will be trained to perform multiple tasks – apprehension, drug detection, and search and rescue”, McKim said. Adding, “It adds a very strong tool that will be extremely valuable to the department.”

The “Back the Blue” Launch Party is one of several events planned by the Friends of the Ephrata Police Foundation. There is a “Doggie Dive” (dog swim) at the Adamstown Pool on September 6 th – contact the pool for more information, and an Annual Friends of the Ephrata Police Department Golf Tournament on September 10 th – there are a few openings for foursomes – email foepf@gmail.com for more information.

The Foundation will have a stand at the Ephrata Fair – please stop by!
